Beer Can Mini Quad

Beer Can Mini Quad

When my WLToys V939 quadcopter stopped performing well, I didn't want to just scrap it. I wanted to salvage the flight controller and try my hand at building a custom frame. The pager motors used on most mini/micro quadcopters are only rated for a certain amount of hours before they lose their strength and functionality. The batteries also wear out with moderate use. I put in an order for some replacement motors and batteries and got to work building a mini quadcopter from the ground up.

No Knead Pizza with Homemade Sauce

No Knead Pizza with Homemade Sauce

I've been making homemade pizza dough and sauce for the past 8 years or so and I've tried many different methods. I think this no knead method is my favorite. It has turned out some of the best pizzas I've made throughout the years with minimal effort. You start by mixing up a "poolish" the night before you plan to make pizza and let it sit in the fridge overnight. This allows gluten to develop and makes the dough come out crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside...

Folger Tech Prusa i3 - 3D Printer

Folger Tech Prusa i3 - 3D Printer

I have been following 3D printing technology for a few years now. I've always thought it was an expensive technology that required $1,000+ to get into. Recently I stumbled upon the Folger Tech Prusa i3 3D printer kit. This kit was modeled after the open source Rep Rap Prusa i3 printer. It seemed like a very barebones kit with basic documentation. When I saw the price of $315 I decided to take the plunge into the 3D printing world and patiently waited for my kit to be delivered...

5 Minute Cooler Speaker

5 Minute Cooler Speaker

A few years back I bought a WOWee speaker/amp. It's contained a battery, amp, and small inducer speaker. I strapped it on a small cooler and it worked great. After a few years of use, the battery life started to fade and it never really put out enough volume. This year I decided to build a new speaker cooler with a bit more power and better battery life. My main goals were to keep it relatively cheap and non-invasive. I didn't want to modify the cooler in any way and wanted the components to be completely removable. This configuration is extremely easy to build and can be done in minutes...

Harvesting a Stereo Bluetooth Adapter

Harvesting a Stereo Bluetooth Adapter

A few months ago my Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth headphones died. They had a good run but the speakers started to go bad. The electronics inside, however, were completely fine. These headphones have a good battery life of about 5-6 hours and a decent range so I figured they would work great with an upcoming project I have in mind. I decided to strip them apart and see if I could make a small adapter instead of buying a new one...
